High Country Series

The first creations from Zen Montana are "tea houses" which combine Asian styling with sensitively finished Montana wood, wood that carries the history and geography of this place that we so love. Each unique tea house has original art as an integral part of its form. The tea house idea rises out of our combined interest in the spirit of Zen philosophy, the Zen Tea Ceremony and the awe-inspiring geography of Montana. These creations are our responses to the fundamental questions that all people ask themselves: Who am I? Why am I here? What am I called to do in this place and in this time? What do I care about?

The tea houses are aesthetic and philosophical statements. They are also functional, with drawers to hold tea and tools for mixing tea, space for a pot and cups, and, in some cases, room for ritual items associated with the tea ceremony. They can also be used in other ways: as places to put a special orchid or bonsai, or as a home for bath items precious belongings. Hide your treasures away or display them for enjoyment. We invite you to imagine the tea houses as a place for you to find respite, a place to discover what you cherish, a place where you can encounter yourself with surprise and joy. Then perhaps enjoy a cup of tea or a ritual bath using the treasures resting in your tea house.
