Location
A lovely, quiet interlude located between Yellowstone National Park
and the 10,000 foot Beartooth Pass.
The Beartooth Hi-Country, an area that is designated as primitive, has
miles and miles of mapped trails that lead to the headwaters of many
streams and lakes which abound with trout. The Beartooth Highway, U.S.
212, is a spectacular pass that rises over 10,000 feet in altitude to
alpine meadows and lakes. The all-season route to Silver Gate and Cooke
City via Gardiner, Montana on U.S. 89 travels through the Lamar Valley
in Yellowstone National Park, a spectacular wildlife viewing area.
Enjoy:
- Stream and lake fishing
- Hiking
- Mountain biking
- Bird watching
- Horseback riding
- Cross-country skiing
- Snowmobiling
- Snowshoeing
- And, believe it or not, shopping
- Or Vranna Sue's favorite, just plain porch sitting.
You
will find directions for many local hikes, descriptions of fish and
wildlife, guides to Yellowstone, local history and other things of interest
in our cabin library. If it is raining or too cold to go out, we also
have games and puzzles, short story books and old magazines to keep
you occupied inside. You can rent videos and VCR machines in Cooke City
if that is your pleasure or you can just watch the fire too.
